LEADING GIRLS TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL WOMEN
About Us
Founded in 1997, Awesome Ambitions was created to educate, inspire, and empower young women in 8th through 12th grade across the greater Kansas City metropolitan area. While all girls are welcome, our programming is intentionally designed to support the social, emotional, and cultural needs of Black and Brown girls, ensuring they are seen, valued, and equipped to succeed.
Awesome Ambitions was founded by award-winning journalist Cynthia Newsome and co-founded by Angela Curry, both of whom were deeply committed to giving back to their community and preparing the next generation of confident, capable women leaders.
Over the years, the organization has served thousands of girls throughout Kansas City, many of whom have gone on to become successful women contributing to their families, careers, and communities.

Our volunteers are the heart of Awesome Ambitions, building meaningful connections with the girls we serve and modeling what it means to overcome challenges and achieve success. They are committed to guiding, encouraging, and supporting each young woman as she sets goals and works toward her future.
Through the generous support of our sponsors and community partners, we are able to provide impactful experiences that bring young women together while equipping them with the knowledge, confidence, and resources they need to succeed. Our programs, including our work with Kansas City Public Schools students in grades 8–12, are designed to support growth, leadership, and long-term success.
Over the years, Awesome Ambitions has built a strong, trusted reputation and continues to be supported by a wide network of organizations and businesses committed to investing in the next generation of young women.

Our Mission
Awesome Ambitions empowers, educates, and equips young ladies in 8th through 12th-grade in underserved communities to know their value and develop a plan for future success in wellness, education, and careers.
Our Vision
We aspire to a future where every young lady recognizes her value and is equipped,
educated, and empowered to achieve her dreams and inspire positive change, fostering a legacy of resilience and innovation in her community.

Awesome
Intentionally
Our work is grounded in four core pillars that guide the development of every young woman we serve. These pillars shape our programming and ensure each experience is intentional, impactful, and aligned with preparing girls for lifelong success. Every partner, volunteer, and supporter plays a vital role in bringing these pillars to life, helping us create meaningful opportunities that empower girls to grow, lead, and thrive.
