Black Achievers Society of Greater Kansas City

 

Each year the Black Achievers Society awards scholarships to area high school students. This year we are proud to announce the availability of several $1,000 scholarships for African American graduating seniors with a cumulative 3.7 or higher grade point average.

Students must attend a high school in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area to be eligible. We encourage students to apply who best meet the following scholarship criteria:

  • Academic achievement

  • Extracurricular activities

  • Community/civic involvement

  • Financial need

Honeywell Black Achievers Society Engineering Education Scholarship

 

Honeywell offers two $5,000 annual, renewable scholarships exclusively for African American students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science.

 

Eligible students must graduate from the following schools: Bishop Ward High School, Center High School, Grandview High School, Ruskin High School, University Academy, Cristo Rey High School, any high school that is part of the Kansas City, MO Public School District (KCPS), any high school that is part of the Raytown School District, or any high school in the Kansas City, KS Public School District (USD #500). Members of Big Brothers & Big Sisters and Boys & Girls Club are also eligible to apply.

 

Students currently at a community college in the greater Kansas City area, pursuing a degree at an accredited 4 – year institution in any of the areas listed below can also apply.

 

Student eligible for this scholarship must meet the following:

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.5 (unweighted)

  • African American student pursuing bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science (mechanical, industrial, electrical, chemical, aeronautical engineering or computer science)

  • Must be accepted at a 4-year ABET college or university (Accreditation Board for Engineering & Technology, Inc.)

  • Special consideration will be given to students attending a Historically Black College or University

  • Renewable 4 years if student maintains 3.0 GPA

Black Achievers Society of Greater Kansas City

Honeywell Opportunity for Prosperity through Education Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship fund is to provide talented high school students who are economically challenged with a funded path to a post secondary degree focused on a career in a manufacturing trade or technical profession.

 

Students eligible for assistance must be:

A high school senior, and:

  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 (unweighted) in their senior year,

  • Plan to pursue a manufacturing or trade degree (Associate in Applied Science or certificate trade program)

  • Must graduate from a high school in the Greater Kansas City area.

  • Community service and extracurricular activities are a plus.
